OK, there are 3 rounds still to run in the OZGT500, but we may as well start kicking around some ideas for the next series. Do we stick with 1 car, 1 tyre, road cars, race cars, etc, etc....

Personally I would like have a field of different cars, but at least different colours.

This is just a quick initial thought from reading your post.
If a lot of the newer blokes are going to be around for the next series, and we will have a large field again, what about an equivalent 2 class event. The fastest 6/7/8 in a super fast car and the less faster 6/7/8 blokes in a slightly slower car.
Longer tracks would probably be more suitable, be just like Bathurst in the 70/80's except with modern cars and only 2 classes of car instead of multiple classes.

V8's dodging mini's, I like the concept. Could do RM ZR1's and RM coffee cars, although now I've mentioned mini's....

Your thinking of the mini's back at Bathurst in 1966 aren't you, where they finished 1st thru to 8 or 9th place followed by the heavy V8 Valiants, etc.

Did a test run, only 5 laps on Grand Valley East.
The Mclaren MP4-12C '10 was stock with only a rear wing added and racing soft tyres. (stock this car comes with no full trans or adjustable diff and only sport suspension). Handles very well though, feels fast.

The Lexus ENEOS SC430 '08 was also stock, with only racing soft tyres added. (stock version of this has all the fully adjustable trans, diff, suspension, etc). Made no adjustments to these settings so would acheive faster time with adjustments.
(Realise you faster guys would achieve faster times than below but should still be a parity coming from the one driver).

Lexus 1:01.490 (this time would drop further with tuning adjustments).
McLaren 1:04.134 (this time would also probably improve with some rear wing adjustments).

Any thoughts? (not enough time difference? different format altogether?)

Yeah, still haven't got around to testing those 2 combo's yet Rinkly.

Stu's comment above summed up well the way I was thinking, but it is harder finding that combo than the couple of combo's I listed above. Especially because I figure the guys in the lower end of the field still want to be running something that is fast, I know I do.

Remember I am just throwing some ideas out there, I will be happy racing what ever format the next event takes.

How about some late 60's early 70's muscle

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 '69 289 BHP, 451 PP

Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C3) '69 299 BHP, 456 PP

Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71 299 BHP, 453 PP

Only upgrades used were Racing Trans, Racing Suspension and Racing Soft Tyres

Ran half a dozen laps around Laguna with each car and a little trans and suspension tuning, all three handled great.

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 '69 1:35.159

Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C3) '69 1:34.879

Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71 299 1:34.234

The McLaren MP4-12C '10 and Lexus ENEOS SC430 '08 is a good combination but then again wouldn't mind the Mini's either.

Few of us should get together one night and run some of these combo's.

Ran some laps in the mini and camaro, you have equalled them out well Stu, some times below.

Grand Valley Full
Camaro: 2:15.355
Mini: 2:16.269

Suzuka
Camaro: 2:29.990
Mini: 2:32.926

Tsukuba:
Camaro: 1:05.355
Mini 1:05.701

The camaro came out ahead on all tracks but being more of a handful to drive there is more likelyhood of an off or spin which may give the advantage to the mini on some tracks.

NB
If this was decided on for next series I would suggest a 6 or 8 week seasons of 3 or 4 tracks, with the 3 or 4 tracks repeated for the second half of the seasons and drivers changing to alternate car for the last half of the season.

Hey Darko, good to see you chiming in with some suggestions and 60's 70's muscle cars certainly wouldn't disappoint me for a series.
As I said earlier, am happy whatever the next series is.

Ran some laps at Grand Valley East in the McLaren MP4-12C '10 (this is one sweet ride) and Lexus ENEOS SC430 '08 without any adjustments.

McLaren MP4-12C '10 1:01.364
Lexus ENEOS SC430 '08 1:01.237
