First Impressions!!

Let us know what you think of it so far good or bad.

I'll start off by saying that it presents well and very user friendly. What I don't like is a couple of us went online earlier and we didn't get any credits for winning so hopefully that will get fixed in the near future. Also it allows people to use short cuts to their advantage (looks at Stu) where Forza puts sticky sand you can just fly over it like it is the raceline. I think you can put penalties on so that might stop ya Stu!!!!

Overall it seems to be worth the wait. What do you think guys?

First impressions....

Shiny new game box looks great.
Load times are a bit over-whelming, but I'd read enough about it to expect it.
Horrible jazzy music on the initial intro screen (I know, I could have clicked past it, but I always watch the intro first time...lol).
UI is pretty good, easy to navigate around.

Right... into a car.
Pretty cool that the car starts and drives out of the garage when you first buy it. (Cant wait for a decent V8 though...lol).
Jumped into the license test... That first one is a biatch. Tried many times and keep falling a couple hundredths short of gold. (The next couple were easy golds).
The dualshock 3 is crap compared to the xbox controller. Could be just my huge gorilla hands, but I've seen other's complaining about it too. I took ABS off (was set on 1) and it locked up every time I touched the brakes. So much more control over that with the xbox.
Graphics are pretty good, but the engine audio leaves a bit to be desired.

Worth the 6 year wait??? Hmm, I'll get back to you on that, after I get some money and a decent car. Never has GTPSP, so no extra cars for me... gotta work my way through all the mundane stuff to earn my cars.

Was a bit disappointed that I had to buy a car before I could do the license test. I wanted to get a couple of levels before spending my measly $20,000. I started with the Honda Civic Type R '97.

I've go today off, so I'll probably be online all day

Like your choice of first car!! Same as me. Haven't done the licence test stuff yet, but had fun with the beginner races and some online races with Stu, Rinkles and Whacked. Yeah the braking is wierd, but I wonder if upgrades might help??? Not got that far yet. Also like the race starts, no uncontrollable wheelspin like forza (TCS off BTW). Smoke pouring off the front tyres when oversteering is awesome. Need a few days of playing to clock up some credits and fill up the garage!!!

Update, went back into the license test and aced the first one (200M braking test) first go this morning...lol

my first impressions, simply put, its a simulator, dont like racing in real life? dont bother with gt5.

anyway, im finding it good. disappointed that you cant change the wheels etc on standard cars, and the fact that you cant buy standard cars from the dealer, you have to buy them from the used car dealership. sucks arse, i want my holdens NOW!

also noticing that im locking up the brakes with any car way to easily. might be me not knowing how to heel toe?

ive got about 150,000 moneys, saving up for that gorgous 458 italia

was starting to think odear iv'e just spent $300 on this ;;;;then suddenly i got the rite to race on the infamous NORDSCHLEIFE and all is forgiven.

The road is the real one, not a FM3 pretend it is full of undulations real forest's and the
SUN is shinning ,can't write any more got to get back to Germany.

Some nice feedback there guys. I too am looking forward to the bigger cars Stumbles. Geez mcrow you have built up quite a bank balance there mate. How did you get it that quick sell your winning cars or just doing a heap of racing?

do the special challenges, intermediate levels give you about 50,000 for gold trophy (and about 4000 experience points). thats how i make my money. oh btw, check the photo thread for me new toy

Yeah just tried this, and took me about 10 attempts. Then the next few are easy peasy though!

Hope to get on tonight for a run. Need to earn some more Cr's and get some more cars!!!

Thanks for the tip Mcrow, got up to level 12 in no time and earnt around 300k. Mind you, spent it all already!! Back to special events, although combie vans around the top gear track, not sure about that?????

I got gold in the Lotus challenge around the top gear track tonight too... bloody stupid cars for that track.

Special events section is where the cash is. Did the Intermediate Nascar thingy, gold in all 4 races gives you $228,000

The combi vans suck!!! Took me ages to get gold. Pr1cks keep running you off the track or spinning you. It's like being in a public lobby on F3! Then got into the lotus & got tapped on the first corner, so backed out & did some of the events instead. Got to say it is a bit addictive, look forward to the higher spec cars.

I agree both the first two challengers at Top Gear Track are frustrating. Was looking at gold in the Combi and lost it on the second to last corner, and can't remember which attempt # that was.

Has anyone got into the licences yet? I've done 4 or 5 of the first lot, but my ADHD kicked in and I didn't go back. Do they get a bit more exciting than turning a corner?

i just get enough to pass is good enough for me lol

Done the first 2 licences and the last challenge is normally a full lap around a circuit. You have to pass I think 15 cars 9th Bronze 2nd Silver 1st Gold. Keep trying cos if I remember correctly from previuos GT licences you get a pretty good gifted car for all golds.

saddly my $300 game is finnished in 6 day's ex Bspec which in my opinion should not have been in the game.They could have used the disc space for more race challenges.
If you come up with some interesting races i can always go and buy the disc only.

So have you returned it simply because you have completed it Rinkly or were there things about it you just didn't like, and if so what were they?

Rinkly sorry to hear that you didn't like it. What didn't you like?
I know I am finding the AIs a bit of a pain they just don't seem to see, if you spin out they just crash straight into you and go on their merry way. I am still learning with my new wheel so am being very patient.
We are trying to come up with some interesting races, so hopefully we will see you back. I know Stu has some in the pipeline, stay tuned.

Didn't say no likky .. NOT worth $300----now i could go and get game only for under $100
