PS3 headset setup Empty PS3 headset setup

I currently have a steel series headset with 3.5mm jacks for Headphone and Mic.
However these do not plug directly into the PS3.

I am not sure of what i should do. I have seen 3.5 to USB adapters, will i hear all audio or only the chat audio? and will my mic still work through only the 'one' USB port.

I have read that some use an Optical/Toslink headphone, and a seperate Mic to USB.
I guess that i could use the headset through the TV, and buy a seperate USB mic, tho seperate mic's can be troublesome. Any ideas?
