Post by Paul Sun Jan 09, 2011 9:45 am

Just want to get a heads up as to who is interested in Euro RWD V8s. Details are still a little sketchy as to what days this is going to be on, tracks and suitable cars BHP as well. So post up and let us know what days are suitable (Tuesdays and Wednesdays are out). Any other feedback would be appreciated.

I'll be a starter. Thursday nights possibly.

How as a starting point do the following cars sound, all premium cars, taken up to a max of 600 BHP.

BMW M3 Coupe '07
Jaguar XKR Coupe '10
Maserati Gran Turismo S '08
Mercedes C63 AMG '08

Pity we are yet able to field 16 car grid, 4 of each of these would fit well.

I start Arvo shift again tomorrow, so if it's a weeknight, I won't be participating. Sounds like a fun comp though.

Looks like the Whirlpool League is going to take on Sunday nights for an hour or so too, but they're generally done by 9pm (Adelaide time).

Yeah, I don't mind Sunday nights. Do you think there is a chance we might be able to con some whirlpool lads in to beef up the no's Stumbles?

Who has what cars off Arkon's list? Might do some testing to make sure these things are competitive.

The previous Muscle cars was run on a Sunday so I suppose there shouldn't be a problem running on Sundays. Anyone object?

If you are going to do some testing try out some tracks cos at the moment I am undecided. I am all for some sprints, medium races and of course an enduro. Might even have some drags down Mulsane straight as an after party fun event.

As for prizes they are also undecided as yet, just trying to get this up and running before we sort out them, thanks for the offers guys. Does anyone have any suggestions about entry fees? Or are we just going to make it another freebie and we live off the donations of our generous members.

OK had a quick look at these last night.

CARS Stock BHP Stock Weight
Alpha 8C 443 1585kg
M3 414 1655kg
Jag XKR 502 1810kg
Massa 433 1780kg
Jag XK Coupe 299 1690kg
C63 450 1730kg
SL55 493 1970kg
Fez Califonia 453 ??? 1452kg with possible weight reduction
Fez 430 483 1450kg
Fez Scud 502 1350kg
Esprite 350 1380kg

The Fez Italia, SLS and SLR are also V8's, but they may be a bit over the top for this. The SLR is 617 stock and the others are in the 560's I think.

Thoughts? Could maybe wind the BHP back to 550 to reduce the tail happiness of these fellas. Might get the chance to do some testing tonight, it is raining like I've never seen here at the moment and I'm the only person here. Mind you, first I have to find a way to get home? Anyone got a boat.

I'll put it to them next time I'm online with a group of them. I'm sure a few of them would jump in. I'll put a small post on whirlpool, will have to word it nicely so as not to have them thinking I'm pilfering their players.

hehe, nah mate.

Oh yeah, they're setting up a separate site for the league stuff too, should be released within a couple of weeks, save having to navigate around whirlpool.

Sorry for the off-topic stuff....

Nice list of cars there, I really gotta start building a few cars. Had a run with the hoons (Stu, Paul and Rinkles), last night and I've got nothing that stacks up against what you all run...lol

Reminds me, gotta find the race that gives you the Veyron as a prize. One lap of SS07 and I was a minute behind in the most powerful garage car available Sad

How about 562BHP. With the weight limit I am presuming you are talking about a set minimum. If so maybe we need to get a few cars and build them up to spec and see what they are made of. Maybe we stick to the 11 cars that anon has nominated above for the time being. Use Suzuka East as the test track that has the straight and the camel hump corners. I will test the 2 Mercs, the Fez Cali and the Espirit. Let us know what you guys can test I know Stu has the Jag and I also know anon wants the M3 so the rest are available for testing. They are: Alpha 8C, Maserati GT, Ferrari 430 and Ferrari Scuderia.

I'll grab the Fez 430.

Had an interesting conversation with my boss last night, a new group leader job has come up, and they're eyeballing me for it, so... I may be back on dayshift soon.

Can we not bag cars as yet, but you guys are quite welcome to test the cars you have nominated. Minimum weight has yet to be decided will probably be around 1300kg to 1400kg. Let me know if any of these cars are under this weight stock, I highly doubt it. The M3 according to Stu isn't much chop so is most likely to get the cut unless someone can get it dialed in.

Just checked out the stock weights for these cars and the lightest is the Scud at 1350kg and the heaviest is the SL55 at 1970kg. At the moment I am going to be sticking with minimum weight being 1250kg however after a few more testing sessions this can drop.

Restrictions at the moment are maximum BHP -562 and minimum weight -1250kg.

P.S.: I have edited anons post with all the cars stock weight after their BHP. The Ferrari California does not have a stock weight in the manufacturers guide but I have one and without looking at its parts and weather I have done a weight reduction it is 1452kg. EDIT: stage 1 weight reduction, window reduction and carbon bonnet.

Done a bit of testing last night with the 2 Mercs, the Ferrari Cali and the Lotus Espirit. Surprisingly close between all four, however the lighter Espirit with lower BHP was quickest.
