Hi everyone,

if I can get a few interested and since it appears it may have been decided to run the upcoming Official Race Series on Mondays, I thought I may run a Test Session for the new features which came out in the latest patch. Those being:
Performance Points (PP)
Ballast (B)
Power Limiter (PL)

Mon 21st Feb
9pm AEDST

Track: Trial Mountain (5 Laps) 3x Races, 2x Sessions
Car: 550 PP limit

Session 1
1st Race: Cars as per above conditions.
2nd Race: Winner 50kg Ballast penalty (Loses (B) penalty at end of race)
3rd Race: Winner 100kg Ballast penalty

Session 2
Ist Race: Cars as per above conditions.
2nd Race: Winner Power Reduction set to -80 (Loses (PR) penalty at end of race)
3rd Race: Winner Power Reduction set to -70

If anyone is interested in testing the above new patch features post your interest and if we get enough will go ahead. These above features could come in useful in some, not necessarily all future Official Race events run on OZGT.

Sorry Anon, original post a bit confusing so have edited.
You can use any car you want, no higher than a 550 Performance Points ( I think many of the Euro cars will run over the 550 PP limit). The PP limit is one of the things to test, therefore wanting a differing range of cars to see how compatable the PP system works.
Thought a monday would be best as thats the nights the next series is about to run, hence reference to the Euro V8's.

Sorry for any confusion.

Not your fault Arkon, I need to learn to read. Should be able to make it. I'm glad they brought back PP. Haven't looked at the online changes yet though. Did you guys have any luck today? Did you try and use a created track?

Sorry about the disconnects and lagging in the last race last night. My son turned off his computer but then went on 360 so could have had a lot to do with it. Very rare I tend to have lag or connection issues.
The PS3 is at the other end of the house though so I think perhaps I will ethernet cable it up whenever I race online, from now on.

Did we reach any conclusions on the usefulness of ballast and power reduction?

No worries Arkon. The ballast definitely makes the car handle differently, but not much slower. The power limited definitely slowed me down. I finished third in the last race, anon and fiddle just a few seconds in front of me. Evened the cars out nicely (that's was with 80%, fiddle still had power limiter on too I think).

I think the power reduction worked more effectively. It may take a while to get the total hang of it. For eg I had a lower power car with racing wheels, so reducing my power might effect me more than someone with sports soft & heaps of power. So it may mean we have to select a tyre compound for the series that everyone uses. Or do a bit more testing...
