Inter-Season Racing
STOP!!! Don't give your other half back the control of the TV on Monday nights. The next season of OZGT racing is just around the corner. In the meantime, we will be running some fun, but competitive racing.
This week is something I promised, but didn't deliver a few weeks back. Midgets and Fiats. But I would also like to run some touring car races to finish the night.
So...
Event 1:
Midgets - Take a stock midget and throw everything at it. It will soar to 110Bhp, and 12kgfm of torque. It should weigh in at a beefy 525kg and have 434PP. We did some trialling on sports soft tyres, but after a lengthy discussion with pirelli and the team engineers, these tyres have been deemed too slippery for this insanely powerful machine. So put on a set of racing hards, and throw a tool box in the tray, and you're ready to run.
Race 1. Autumn Ring Mini. 5 Laps.
Race 2. London Reverse. 5 Laps.
Points and prizes TBA.
Event 2:
Fiat 500's (Pre-1970) - As with the Midget, put the works on this little beauty. There are 3 to choose from: '65, '68, and '69. The '65 is a prize car, the '68 is in the dealership and I have all 3 if you don't want to buy one. Just let me know and I'll gift one over.
Race 1. Grand Valley East. 5 Laps.
Race 2. Fuji Speedway GT. 5 Laps.
Points and prizes TBA.
Event 3:
Touring Cars.
Here's the list of options -
Abt Audi TT-R 02 (maybe, will need to be dialed down heaps)
Audi A4 Touring Car 04 (also a bit strong)
AMG Merc 190 E 2.5 - 16 Evo II Touring Car '92 (bit slow)
Merc CLK Touring car '00
Opel Astra Touring Car '00
Opel Calibra Touring Car '94
Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI '93
Vauxhall Astra Super Touring Car '00
Vauxhall Calibra Super Touring Car '94
The '00 and '94 cars would be best, if everyone had them, but I don't think any of them are in the dealerships. Sadly they are over the trading limit, otherwise I'd send a few out to you guys. If you haven't got one, trawl the UCD, they are awesome cars to race.
Tracks and laps TBA, along with points and prizes.
OK, who's in!?!?!?!

Yeah normal kick off time. Room open from 8.30, maybe earlier given it's a public holiday. Will update the info about the touring cars when I can get on next.

Re: Inter-Season Racing
Only recently discovered these beauties Fiddles. I've got all of them, and they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. I did some testing and around 590PP is close to the sweet spot, but different cars will go better on different tracks. Pity about the trade restriction or I would dupe them out to everyone.
Pity also about the PSN....looks like it won't be up and running tonight, but we must still have hope. I do have a back up plan though. Arckon has posted an awesome hotlap comp for this month, with the first challenge in a (*#@%ing) TVR. So, build up a car as per reg's and get hotlapping on the track he's posted (Autumn ring I think). At exactly 10.30pm (AEST - sorry Arckon, rob's you of 2 hours) tonight, post your fastest time, preferably with a pic for proof. Don't post early and give away a benchmark and don't post (too) far after 10.30pm or your time won't be counted.
Prizes (if and when PSN is working again):
1st - Honda Integra Type R Touring Car & Gold Chrome paint chip
2nd - Spoon S2000 Race Car '00 & Silver Chrome paint chip
3rd - Calsonic Skyline '00 & Lvl 12 Car ticket
Random Prizes - 2 x 1000km car tickets.
If the winners already own the cars they can look through my garage and pick something else.

Re: Inter-Season Racing
Well done Anon.
I was actually planning on running 1 or 2 instant hot lap challenges with only something like a two day attempt period during the month of May and best time PM'd to me for similar reasons you have used above.
Guess I will have to improve on my quick 4 lap time posted above.
It is Autumn Ring Reverse

Re: Inter-Season Racing
Thanks mate. Just to be clear, this is totally separate to the hot-lap challenge although the times will definitely go towards that comp as well. Like Arckon said, this is a one-off, limited prep time challenge. Before anyone asks, any tyres and 515PP.

Cool... I've had a nap after getting up at sparrow's fart this morning for the Anzac service. Time to grab a TVR and throw down some laps (didn't get to it last night.. spent some time with the missus...lol).

Well, I know I'm early, (only an hour), but I'm knackered and I gotta get up early again tomorrow... (Golfing with some mates).
I laid down a 1:17.941 (got 171.839 but didn't save the replay).
Here's the photo...(it's the second time on the leaderboard)
Good luck to all, have fun in the TVR

Re: Inter-Season Racing
F*%^ing image viewer. Took forever to host it, kept falling over??
Anyway, keep the times coming.
Just saw your post Whacked...my PS3 says the current time is 22.43, my watch says 22.38. But either way, the second time is still ahead of Stumbles.....just.
Plus, I can't win my own comp, so he's in No. 1 position at the moment.
