Re: Hints and Tips
Now, for those who don't know, and I bl00dy wish someone had told me this an hour ago, when you do the Nascar events turn ABS OFF!! I don't know why, Stumbles would probably know, but it gives you a massive speed boost to have it off.
PS Cracked the GT-R challenge in the new events section. Does anyone want to borrow it or any of the other cars?

Re: Hints and Tips
Umm,yeah. I meant to post that in here the other day... Sorry Anon
With the Nascar, it has ASM forced on (I think), but turning off ABS basically disables it... They're somehow linked, so turning off ABS means the ASM doesnt work.

I'll give it another go tonight, was only 1.7 seconds behind and I haven't touched the tuning side of things yet. What car did you use?? I got an '07 GT-R, bloody thing weighs heaps. Still about 1470 Kgs after the 3 stages of weight reduction, and the minimum for that event is 1100 kgs.
If you want to gift yours over, I might give it a run then send it back.

Re: Hints and Tips
Initial Torque 5/13
Acceleration 20/45
Braking 10/20
and Torque Distribution at 25/75.
Suspension:
Ride Height -20/-20
Springs 15.2/10.0
Dampers Ext 6/6
Dampers Com 6/6
Anti-roll 4/4
Wheels:
Camber (-) 2.2/1.5
Toe Angle 0.18/-0.10
Brakes: 6/5
I had the adj gears, top spd 320 I think, and the stability bars, I figured I'd put in everything I could and who cares when the payout is 1M.
Not my tune BTW, stole it off another site, but it crapped all over mine.

Re: Hints and Tips
Well, I busted it open using my car with no tuning. Won by 2.5 seconds, and that was with a spin going into the tunnel after the front straight...lol
Only thing I changed was the max speed to 290 in the trans.

HEy lads, how have you guys got your controllers set up?
I changed mine as soon as I put the game in so they were they same as the Forza set-up, now im thinking it wasn't such a good move coz the brakes are soo dam spongy on most cars, the triggers on there aren't very good either, any help would be much appreciated.

Hey Stik, yes the PS3 control is no where near as good as the 360 controller, the triggers have less progression and not as precise either as the 360 controller.
Another option you could look at apart from purchasing a wheel(though this is the best option if you can afford it), is the option I took a couple of year ago when GTPrologue came out. I have put the link below, but I purchased a XCM Cross Battle Adapter from PlayAsia and they do work very well, only thing is, you will need to buy the wired PC version of the 360 controller for it to work.
The only thing that has stopped me from purchasing the 360 version of the above so I could use the G27 on the xbox is I believe the force feedback doesn't work, and am still a little uncertain whether the G27 would work full stop, although I have seen posts out there saying that it does.

chair + ironing board + wheel = awesome!
its what i do, ive got about a metre between my tv and the edge of my bed, put the ironing board in that gap, wheel on the ironing board, and sit on the bed. works great!
like so;

Hehehe, that's tops Mcrow!
How many power boards do you have in your room mate?
I game in the lounge room of my house & it's not a big house so we try and keep the clutter down to a minimum. Might cave if i can't find anything suitable though.

Re: Hints and Tips
I went to the shops today & picked up one of these
The pro elite ps3 wireless controller, it's almost exactly the same size as the xbox one & the feel of the triggers is alot better.
Will be playing alot more GT5 now i have this coz personally i really disliked the original ps3 one.
EB @ Westlakes has em if any of you SA lads are in the same boat as me.

Re: Hints and Tips
Back on topic kids!!!
Just had a go at the new seasonal events, mini is no prob's, but the focus event seems impossible...until you turn on skid recovery. I went from loosing by 14sec to winning by 5-6 seconds. I upgraded and tuned first and ate off about 20 seconds in no time, but couldn't get closer to the 1st guy. A little googling later and first go got gold. It's still a bugger to drive, but just goes heaps faster and comes out of corners with a rush no matter how bad to got your line. Mcrow will undoubtably have an aneurism at the thought of using assists, but I couldn't do it 50 times in a row to beat it without the skid recovery.
Finished ib licence as well, a few tricky ones if you're chasing gold - looking at you slalom!! But none are quite controller throwingly bad. I've got the first four licences done now, so if you got stuck on any of these let us know and I'll try and help out.

Re: Hints and Tips
Yeah, unfortunately, skid recovery is like God-Mode... Everything becomes easier with it. I always have it off until I get stuck for 10 or 11 tries, then turn it on and win by miles.
I think I'll head into EB this arvo after work and grab one of those controllers, really hate the PS3 crappy thing.

Re: Hints and Tips
For those new seasonal events you only need it for the focus & rx7 events. Not sure about the NASCAR event cause I changed the oil in my M&M mobile & the bhp is now above the restrictions. Anyone got a NASCAR they don't need for a few days?

Re Annon and Stumbles, hmmm perhaps I may need to start using skid recovery, on events I am having trouble golding. I always have it off as default and every time I set up an online room also set it too forced off, this may be something we need to look at for setting up rooms for our online events in the coming New Year as to whether this will be allowed to be used or not depending on the event being run.
The only assist I use at any time is ABS set to 1.

Re: Hints and Tips
I reckon they're awesome, Len got one as well but said he had to press the triggers a bit more than normal for the brakes to come into play. Small sacrifice though coz they have a lip on them so your fingers won't fall off at crucial times.Stumbles wrote:I think I'll head into EB this arvo after work and grab one of those controllers, really hate the PS3 crappy thing.
Was thinking of grabbing killzone 2 today since number 3 is coming out shortly, anyone got this? good/bad?
