Stumbles wrote:Yeah, unfortunately, skid recovery is like God-Mode... Everything becomes easier with it. I always have it off until I get stuck for 10 or 11 tries, then turn it on and win by miles.
Re Annon and Stumbles, hmmm perhaps I may need to start using skid recovery, on events I am having trouble golding. I always have it off as default and every time I set up an online room also set it too forced off, this may be something we need to look at for setting up rooms for our online events in the coming New Year as to whether this will be allowed to be used or not depending on the event being run.
The only assist I use at any time is ABS set to 1.

I reckon they're awesome, Len got one as well but said he had to press the triggers a bit more than normal for the brakes to come into play. Small sacrifice though coz they have a lip on them so your fingers won't fall off at crucial times.Stumbles wrote:I think I'll head into EB this arvo after work and grab one of those controllers, really hate the PS3 crappy thing.
Was thinking of grabbing killzone 2 today since number 3 is coming out shortly, anyone got this? good/bad?

I did the same thing anon. I knew an oil change would bring the Hp up, but not that much. I had to borrow one off of one of the guys on whirlpool. Got it done and sent it back with 30 mins... lol.

I'll still be around. I can't do the series on OZFM, so I'll just keep plugging away with B-Spec Bob and see what he can do...lol
Loving the new seasonal events too, lots of cash and exp.

Re: Hints and Tips
I'm trying really hard to give this game it's deserved mantle peice of years gone bye but at the moment i'm all about the online aspects & time trial sort of stuff. I get bored quick with non-multiplayer player games. Maybe it's just me & my inexperience but sh!t just seems alot harder here if you know what i mean.. I'm by no-means giving up but i didn't think it'd be this much of a transition from 1 racing game to another....rinkly at 72 wrote:judging by the comments on OZFM there want be many people left on GT5 at the end of 2010.

Re: Hints and Tips
Getting gold in all the licenses was hard, here is video of one of the really close races that needed me to be mega precise and stick to the track without any collisions. Sorry quality is shite, and so is the camera playback.

I thought the S class license tests were the easiest of the lot... Only one that gave me grief was #8, but got it in the end.

Re: Hints and Tips
Hint for the day, when racing the Formula GT championship, don't get lazy on the last corner before enter the straight on the last lap (with an 8 second lead) and spin out on the grass.
I spun out on turn 5 of the first lap (Indy course - race 2 in the championship), and made my from last to first, only to have a brain-fart and wind up second... Argh!!!!!
Ok, so still leading the championship, went to do the third race at Cote d' zure, it's lap 16 of 20 and I'm dead last by a long way

Re: Hints and Tips
Geez. The FGT was getting slower and slower, just did an oil change, the BHP had dropped from 924 down to 877 in 5 races... Yet the AI just keep going at the same speed???
Here's a good set-up for the Formula GT...
Downforce: Front 70 Rear 90
LSD: 15/45/55
Suspension Height: 5/5 (10/10 for Bumpy tracks)
Spring Rate 17.4/17.5
Dampers E 8/8
Dampers C 6/6
Roll Bars 7/7
Camber Angle F 2.0 R 1.0
Toe Angle F 0.00 R -0.20
Brakes:
Brake balance 4/1
Recommended Transmission settings per race (KM/H):
Race 1 Fuji Speedway: 390
Race 2 Road Course – Indy: 390
Race 3 Cote d'Azur: 330 Remember to change after this race.
Race 4 Nurburgring GP/F: 360
Race 5 Monza: 390
Race 6 Suzuka: 380
Thanks to ReikoNagase from GTPlanet.net forums for this set-up.

Re: Hints and Tips
I'm not sure I will do that one, how long will it take to do all those races in one hit?
BTW that sucks big ones Stumbles, so I guess the AI are pretty tough in that event. I'm gonna do the Japan GT which will leave only the Formula GT event left to do in the Extreme Series, but it'll take so long, ahhh.....maybe one day.
Hint for the day, the first 5 seasonal events are about to expire, 2 more days left to grab some relatively easy Cr and XP. By tomorrow all my PS3 accounts will have done all of the first ones. Just wish I could send more than one car per day, bloody slows the process down. Hope they keep doing these, just have a feeling they might become fewer and less generous as time goes on.
On a lighter note, work sucks and am realising how little gaming I can now do that holidays are over. I think I can smell your brain-fart from here Stumbles, it was huge!!

Re: Hints and Tips
A guy on whirlpool posted a google doc for GT5, has lots of info in it, from all the cars to what you get from winning races (tabs down the bottom of the page).

Re: Hints and Tips
Time for a new "hint/tip of the day"...
Clear System Cache (In GT5)
Under network, in the options menu, there is a option to "clear system cache". Doing so will NOT affect your game save data or your game data. When a long time is spent on-line racing new people, small amounts of info is saved temporarily. Yet doing this clear system cache, seems to suggest otherwise. Think of it this way, all those cars that you race against, that you don't own, or those paint colors that you have not seen. They get saved somewhere. Installing game data does not install all the paint colors and cars. If you see a flashing icon in the lower right of your screen that says "installing", it means some part or all of the car was not viewed before. Does long game load times ring a bell.
With all the dramas I had trying to get online tonight, I'm going to do this and hope that it helps.
